exploring the
underexplored

1844 Resources is an exploration company dedicated to unlocking the mineral potential of the significantly underexplored Gaspé Peninsula in Québec.

Gaspé

Mining Legacy in the Gaspé PeninsulaThe Gaspé Peninsula has a rich mining history, with several producing mines over the years — most notably the Gaspé Copper Mine (“Gaspé Copper”) located in Murdochville. Operated by Noranda from 1954 to 1999, the mine produced approximately 141 million tons grading 0.85% copper during its lifetime.
Today, the Gaspé Copper Mine is entering a new chapter, as Osisko Metals advances plans to reopen and revitalize this historic operation.

GOVERNANCE

Sustainable Development and Responsible Governance
Sustainable development and responsible governance are fundamental to the management of 1844 Resources Inc.’s mining and exploration projects. The company is committed to the responsible and conscientious use of the natural resources within the territories where it operates.
To achieve this, 1844 Resources applies technically proven and economically feasible measures to protect the environment, ensure health and safety in all exploration activities, and uphold its social responsibilities toward the communities in which it operates. In doing so, the company adheres to the guiding principles of corporate social responsibility (CSR), integrating environmental stewardship, social engagement, and transparent governance into every aspect of its operations.

In terms of governance and responsible management, we must ensure:
  • That all employees, regardless of their role or seniority, clearly understand their environmental and social responsibilities.
This includes providing appropriate training, promoting a culture of accountability, and encouraging proactive involvement in improving health, safety and overall working conditions. Employees are expected to integrate best practices into their daily tasks and contribute to a respectful, inclusive and safe work environment.
  • That every project is planned, evaluated, and managed with the highest level of rigor and transparency.
This involves conducting thorough environmental and social assessments, integrating risk-mitigation measures from the earliest stages of development, and ensuring continuous monitoring throughout the project’s lifecycle. The objective is to reduce potential negative impacts on the environment, respect local communities, and maintain open dialogue with stakeholders to address concerns and share information on an ongoing basis.

The responsible management of a project located on land used by others requires ongoing, constructive dialogue. To achieve this, we must ensure that we:
  • Develop and maintain proactive, open, and transparent communication with local authorities — including Indigenous communities, municipal representatives, and relevant government agencies.
This means establishing regular contact, sharing project information in a timely and accessible manner, listening to questions or concerns, and integrating their feedback into project planning. It also involves recognizing Indigenous rights, acknowledging traditional land use, and ensuring respectful collaboration based on mutual trust.
  • Engage proactively with all other stakeholders who use or rely on the territory.
These may include local residents, land users, recreational groups, industry partners, environmental organizations, and businesses operating in the area. The objective is to understand how the project may interact with their activities, identify potential conflicts early, and work together to find practical solutions that respect the interests of all parties. Transparent, two-way communication ensures that stakeholders remain informed and can participate meaningfully in the decision-making process.

In terms of health and safety, we shall ensure that we:
  • Implement, with due diligence, all applicable health and safety regulations across every stage of our exploration activities.
This includes strictly adhering to provincial and federal requirements, industry standards, and internal policies designed to prevent incidents and protect workers. We will ensure that all team members receive appropriate training, that equipment is properly maintained, and that work procedures are continually evaluated and improved. Our objective is to maintain a safe, risk-aware work environment where hazards are identified early, corrective actions are taken promptly, and every individual understands their role in safeguarding their own health and that of their colleagues.

In terms of environment, we must ensure that we:
  • Implement, with due diligence, all applicable environmental regulations throughout our exploration activities.
This includes complying with provincial and federal environmental requirements, following industry best practices, and integrating protective measures into every phase of planning and operations. We will work to minimize our ecological footprint by preventing pollution, managing waste responsibly, reducing disturbances to wildlife and sensitive habitats, and ensuring proper site restoration. Continuous monitoring, documentation, and improvement of our environmental practices are essential to maintaining compliance and demonstrating our commitment to stewardship.

In socio-economic terms, we must ensure that:
  • To the greatest extent possible, our activities generate local benefits and contribute to sustainable community development.
This involves building constructive partnerships with both Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, supporting local employment and procurement opportunities, and fostering initiatives that strengthen economic and social well-being. All engagement must be conducted with respect for the interests, rights, and traditions of each community, ensuring that development is mutually beneficial, culturally sensitive, and aligned with long-term local priorities.
